Phaze released an experimental MCP server today. We have many ideas on how to use the MCP server with Claude or Codex/ChatGPT. One that we decided to test is an IT support agent. We built a Slackbot that responds to user queries and tries to solve the problem by remotely accessing the person’s computer and fixing the issue.
After the user requests help, the agent connects to the computer and starts working on the problem. When the agent needs help, it escalates the issue to the IT support team. Right now, my agent waits for an IT person to enter the user password to log in to the computer.
The IT support person can then directly connect to the machine via the protocol handler link in the message. Phaze already knows if the IT support person has permission to make this connection request, and it will block the connection if someone without rights to connect attempts to do so.
Once the IT support person has taken over to help the agent, they can then pass the control back to the AI agent to complete the task.
Once I handed it back, the agent completed the task.
Other ideas
- Render-farm or lab monitor: screenshot long-running jobs on many machines and alert when something looks stuck.
- Scheduled maintenance agent: each night, find machines the company, connect, and run updates on them and post a report.
- Onboarding assistant: When a new person joins the company, assign a machine, connect, and set up the apps a new hire needs. The agent can send a screenshot to show that everything is set up properly.
- Connect to ServiceNow: Answer IT tickets from ServiceNow and close them without working on the machine.
- Guided support: instead of fixing it, the agent connects and walks the user through the steps while a human watches.
